Program is dedicated to providing safe, secure, affordable housing for Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals and families living in the urban setting.
VNHS works in partnership with federal and provincial government agencies to subsidize tenant rent contributions and achieve affordability for individuals and families with low incomes. VNHS owns or operates 18 buildings on Vancouver’s Eastside. Although the Society’s original and ongoing mandate has been to provide safe, secure and affordable housing to the urban Indigenous community, over the last decade the Society’s mandate has grown and VNHS now provides housing solutions for non-Indigenous people, women at risk, youth, seniors, persons living with mental illness, the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
Although our original and ongoing mandate is to prioritize the housing needs of the urban Indigenous community, we have expanded our operations to include housing solutions for non-Indigenous families and individuals, seniors, youth, women at risk, persons living with mental illness, as well as those who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Recognizing that providing housing alone is not enough, some VNHS buildings include on-site support services. In all of our housing developments, we strive to help connect our tenants to all available resources in the community when needed.

Supportive Housing alternative
Supportive housing is subsidized housing with on-site supports. These supports help you find and maintain housing stability. If you’re applying to supportive housing, you may require supports related to mental health and/or substance use and/or other challenges that may put you at higher risk of homelessness.
If you are interested in supportive housing, please contact the BC Housing Supportive Housing Registry by visiting Orange Hall (295 E Hastings St, Vancouver, BC. V6A 2Z3).
